How the Hedge Bet Calculator works
If your original bet is looking good, you can place a second bet on the other side so that you get the same return whichever outcome happens. Enter the original stake and odds and the price now offered on the opposite outcome.
Formula
- Hedge stake = original stake × original odds ÷ hedge odds
- Locked-in profit = original stake × original odds − original stake − hedge stake
Worked example
50 at 5.00 hedged at 1.80: hedge stake = 50 × 5 ÷ 1.8 = 138.89. Total outlay is 188.89 and either result returns 250, locking in 61.11.
Frequently asked questions
Is a hedge always profitable?
No. If the hedge odds are short relative to your original price, the locked-in result can be a smaller loss than the alternative. The calculator shows a negative figure in that case.
Play responsibly
Calculators describe maths, not outcomes. Gambling is for adults aged 18+ and can be addictive — set limits and never stake money you cannot afford to lose.
